Exfoliant Manufacturing Overview
Exfoliants work by removing dead skin cells from the skin surface through physical abrasion (scrubs) or chemical dissolution (AHAs, BHAs, enzymes). Regular exfoliation improves skin texture, reduces clogged pores, and enhances absorption of other skincare products.
Manufacturing exfoliants requires formulation expertise in cream and gel bases, selection of appropriate exfoliating particles or chemical actives, and pH control for chemical exfoliants. Orsolab's facility produces exfoliants in cream, gel, and liquid formats at our GMP-certified production line in Cavite.
Our minimum order quantity is 250kg per SKU. For scrub formulations this translates to approximately 2,500 to 5,000 finished units depending on packaging size.
Types of Exfoliants Available
Physical Face Scrub
Cream or gel base with exfoliating particles (jojoba beads, microcrystalline cellulose, walnut shell powder, apricot seed powder). Most common exfoliant type. Applied with circular massage motions and rinsed off. Available in various grit sizes from gentle to intensive.
Body Scrub
Coarser exfoliating particles in a moisturizing cream base. Used on body skin which is less sensitive than facial skin. Often includes salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, or coffee scrubs. Popular with spa brands and hotels.
Chemical Exfoliant (AHA/BHA)
Liquid or gel formula containing glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or fruit enzymes. Dissolves dead skin cells without physical scrubbing. Growing category as consumers become more educated about skincare actives. Requires careful pH formulation.
Lip Scrub
Gentle exfoliating scrub specifically formulated for lip skin. Sugar-based or fine jojoba bead formulation. Moisturizing base with nourishing oils. Small packaging (typically 10g to 15g pots).
Enzymatic Exfoliant
Uses fruit enzymes (papain from papaya, bromelain from pineapple) to gently dissolve dead skin cells. Gentler than AHA/BHA for sensitive skin. Applied as a gel or cream and rinsed after 5 to 10 minutes.

FDA Requirements
Exfoliants in the Philippines are classified as cosmetic products and regulated by the Philippine FDA. All exfoliants must be manufactured by a facility holding a valid FDA Cosmetics License to Operate.
Orsolab holds FDA Cosmetics LTO No. LTO-3000006301418. This license allows us to legally manufacture exfoliants and other cosmetic products in the Philippines.
Before selling exfoliants in the Philippine market, your product requires FDA Cosmetic Product Notification. Orsolab provides the necessary manufacturing documentation including Certificate of Product Analysis, pH testing for chemical exfoliants, stability testing, microbial testing, batch manufacturing records, and facility licenses to support your FDA submission.
Chemical exfoliants containing AHAs or BHAs must meet concentration and pH requirements. Products manufactured at unlicensed facilities cannot be legally sold in the Philippines.

Private Label vs Contract Manufacturing
Orsolab offers two primary manufacturing models for exfoliant production.
Private Label Exfoliants
Select from Orsolab's existing exfoliant formulations and apply your brand name and packaging. No custom formulation development required.
This model works best for new skincare brands, spa and salon brands, and retailers who want to enter the exfoliant market quickly. Production timeline is shorter since formulation development is eliminated.
Private label exfoliants at Orsolab include facial scrub, body scrub, lip scrub, and chemical exfoliant formulations.
Contract Manufacturing
Orsolab's R&D team develops a custom exfoliant formula based on your specifications, target skin type, or reference product. You own the formula. The manufacturer produces it exclusively for your brand.
Contract manufacturing allows full differentiation in exfoliating particle type and size, active ingredients, base texture, fragrance, and efficacy claims. Development timeline adds 1 to 2 weeks for sample formulation and client approval before full production begins.
