Alcohol vs Non-Alcohol Formulations
Surface disinfectant sprays are formulated with either alcohol or alternative antimicrobial actives. Each approach has specific benefits and use cases.
Alcohol-Based Disinfectant Spray
Alcohol-based formulations typically contain 70% isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. These sprays provide rapid kill time against bacteria and viruses, evaporate quickly without residue, and are effective on most hard surfaces. Alcohol-based sprays are popular for electronics, countertops, and quick surface sanitization.
Drawbacks include flammability, strong odor, and potential surface damage on certain materials. Storage and shipping require appropriate safety protocols.
Non-Alcohol Disinfectant Spray
Non-alcohol formulations use quaternary ammonium compounds, hydrogen peroxide, or botanical antimicrobials. These sprays offer longer residual protection, are safer on surfaces, and have milder odors. Non-alcohol sprays are preferred for food preparation areas, children's spaces, and continuous use environments.
Efficacy testing and proper contact time instructions are required for non-alcohol formulations.
Orsolab manufactures both alcohol-based and non-alcohol surface disinfectant sprays based on your target market and use case.
For general disinfectant manufacturing, see Disinfectant Manufacturing Philippines.
HUHS License Requirement
Surface disinfectant spray in the Philippines is classified as a household urban hazardous substance and requires FDA HUHS Manufacturer License. This is separate from the cosmetics license and specifically regulates household cleaning and disinfecting products.
Orsolab holds FDA HUHS Manufacturer License in addition to FDA Cosmetics LTO No. LTO-3000006301418. This allows us to legally manufacture surface disinfectant spray and household cleaning products in the Philippines.
Products manufactured at our HUHS-licensed facility can be registered under your brand name with the Philippine FDA. We provide all required documentation including Certificate of Product Analysis, efficacy testing data, manufacturing batch records, and facility licenses.
Never work with an unlicensed manufacturer. Disinfectant spray manufactured at facilities without HUHS license cannot be legally sold in the Philippines and exposes your brand to regulatory penalties.

Institutional vs Retail Markets
Surface disinfectant spray serves both institutional buyers and retail consumers. Each market has different packaging and positioning requirements.
Institutional Market
Hospitals, schools, offices, hotels, and commercial facilities purchase disinfectant spray in bulk formats. Packaging is typically larger bottles or gallon refills. Pricing is competitive and volume-based. Efficacy documentation and safety data sheets are required for institutional procurement.
Retail Market
Consumer retail includes pharmacies, supermarkets, and online stores. Packaging is smaller spray bottles with consumer-friendly branding and clear usage instructions. Retail pricing allows higher margins but requires stronger marketing and shelf presence.
Orsolab manufactures for both channels. We adjust formulation concentration and packaging based on your target distribution.
For institutional supply, see Institutional Cleaning Supplier Philippines.
Private Label vs Contract Manufacturing
Orsolab offers two manufacturing models for surface disinfectant spray.
Private Label Disinfectant Spray
Select from our existing disinfectant spray formulations and brand them under your name. Orsolab has ready-to-manufacture formulations for alcohol-based and non-alcohol sprays tested for efficacy. You choose the formulation, packaging, and branding. We handle production.
Private label manufacturing takes 6 to 10 weeks from order confirmation to finished goods.
Contract Manufacturing
Custom disinfectant spray formulation developed by our R&D team based on your specific antimicrobial requirements, target pathogens, or reference product. You own the formula.
Contract manufacturing takes 2 to 3 months from initial inquiry to finished goods. This includes 1 to 2 weeks for sample development and efficacy testing, followed by 30 to 45 working days for full production.
For related products, see Hand Sanitizer Manufacturing.
MOQ and Pricing
Minimum order quantity for surface disinfectant spray is 250kg per SKU. This applies to both private label and contract manufacturing.
For context, 250kg of disinfectant spray in 500ml bottles is approximately 500 units. In 250ml spray bottles, 250kg produces approximately 1,000 units. For institutional gallon containers, 250kg is approximately 66 units.
Pricing depends on formulation type (alcohol vs non-alcohol), active ingredient costs, and packaging format. Alcohol-based formulations have higher raw material costs but simpler efficacy testing. Contact Orsolab for a detailed quote.
Production timeline is 30 to 45 working days after downpayment and final approval. Sample development and efficacy testing for contract manufacturing takes 2 to 3 weeks.
Orsolab is located in Tanza, Cavite, approximately 45 minutes from Metro Manila via CAVITEX.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between alcohol and non-alcohol disinfectant spray?
Alcohol-based disinfectant spray contains 70% isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and provides rapid kill time with quick evaporation. Non-alcohol spray uses quaternary ammonium compounds or hydrogen peroxide for longer residual protection. Alcohol spray works faster but has strong odor and flammability concerns. Non-alcohol spray is safer for continuous use and better for food areas. Both types are effective when formulated and used correctly. Choice depends on your use case and target market preferences.
How long does surface disinfectant spray remain effective after manufacturing?
Properly formulated surface disinfectant spray maintains efficacy for 18 to 24 months when stored in appropriate packaging away from direct sunlight and heat. Alcohol-based formulations are more stable long-term. Non-alcohol formulations require stability testing to verify active ingredient retention. Orsolab conducts stability testing on all formulations and provides shelf life recommendations based on test data. We recommend expiration dating on product labels and proper storage instructions for end users.
Can Orsolab manufacture disinfectant spray that kills COVID-19?
Yes. Orsolab manufactures disinfectant spray formulations effective against enveloped viruses including coronaviruses. Both 70% alcohol formulations and EPA-approved quaternary ammonium formulations demonstrate efficacy against COVID-19 when used according to label instructions. We provide efficacy testing data from accredited laboratories showing viral kill rates. Product claims must be worded carefully to comply with FDA regulations. We work with clients to ensure claims are supported by test data and regulatory compliant.
