FDA Requirements for Antibacterial Claims

Antibacterial soap in the Philippines requires careful formulation and claims management to comply with FDA regulations. Products making antibacterial or antimicrobial claims must use approved active ingredients at effective concentrations.

Orsolab holds FDA Cosmetics LTO No. LTO-3000006301418. We manufacture antibacterial soap within Philippine regulatory frameworks and ensure formulations use FDA-recognized antimicrobial actives.

Antibacterial efficacy testing demonstrates bacterial reduction. We work with accredited laboratories to verify antimicrobial performance according to standard test methods. Test reports support FDA registration and product claims.

We provide all documentation required for FDA compliance including Certificate of Product Analysis with antimicrobial agent verification, efficacy test reports, manufacturing batch records, and facility licenses.

Never work with an unlicensed manufacturer. Antibacterial soap manufactured at unlicensed facilities cannot be legally sold in the Philippines.

Hospital and Institutional Markets

Antibacterial soap serves critical hygiene needs in healthcare and institutional environments.

Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities

Healthcare facilities require antibacterial hand soap at handwashing stations throughout patient care areas. Surgical scrub formulations with chlorhexidine are used in operating rooms and pre-surgical prep areas. Hospital-grade antibacterial soap must meet strict efficacy standards and provide sustained antimicrobial activity.

Food Service and Restaurants

Commercial kitchens and food preparation areas need antibacterial hand soap to meet health department requirements. Food handlers wash hands frequently throughout shifts. Antibacterial soap provides an additional safety layer beyond mechanical cleaning for foodborne illness prevention.

Schools and Childcare

Educational institutions use antibacterial soap in nurse stations, cafeterias, and high-traffic restrooms to reduce illness transmission among students. Formulations for schools prioritize safety for frequent use by children.

Manufacturing and Industrial

Facilities handling raw materials or products requiring hygiene control use antibacterial soap at entry points and production areas.

Orsolab manufactures antibacterial soap for all institutional channels with formulations appropriate to each use case.

Private Label vs Contract Manufacturing

Orsolab offers two manufacturing models for antibacterial soap.

Private Label Antibacterial Soap

Select from our existing antibacterial soap formulations and brand them under your name. Orsolab has ready-to-manufacture formulations with proven antimicrobial actives. You choose the formulation, packaging, and branding. We handle production.

Private label manufacturing takes 6 to 10 weeks from order confirmation to finished goods.

Contract Manufacturing

Custom antibacterial soap formulation developed by our R&D team based on your antimicrobial agent preference, target use case, or reference product. You own the formula.

Contract manufacturing takes 2 to 3 months from initial inquiry to finished goods. This includes 1 to 2 weeks for sample development and efficacy testing, followed by 30 to 45 working days for full production.

For standard hand soap, see Hand Soap Manufacturing.

MOQ and Pricing

Minimum order quantity for antibacterial soap is 250kg per SKU. This applies to both private label and contract manufacturing.

For context, 250kg of antibacterial liquid soap in gallon containers is approximately 66 gallons. In 500ml pump bottles, 250kg produces approximately 500 units. For bulk 5-gallon institutional refills, 250kg produces approximately 13 containers.

Pricing depends on antimicrobial agent type and concentration. Chlorhexidine-based formulations cost more than benzalkonium chloride formulations. Healthcare-grade surgical scrub formulations have higher ingredient costs than general-use antibacterial soap. Contact Orsolab for a detailed quote.

Production timeline is 30 to 45 working days after downpayment and final approval. Sample development and efficacy testing for contract manufacturing takes 2 to 3 weeks.

Orsolab is located in Tanza, Cavite, approximately 45 minutes from Metro Manila via CAVITEX.

Frequently Asked Questions

What antimicrobial agents can Orsolab use in antibacterial soap?

Orsolab formulates antibacterial soap with FDA-approved antimicrobial agents including chlorhexidine gluconate, benzalkonium chloride, and natural antimicrobials like tea tree oil. Chlorhexidine provides sustained antimicrobial activity and is preferred for healthcare settings. Benzalkonium chloride is effective for general antibacterial soap. We do not use triclosan due to regulatory concerns. Active ingredient selection depends on your target market, efficacy requirements, and cost considerations. Our R&D team will recommend appropriate antimicrobials for your application.

Is antibacterial soap better than regular soap?

Antibacterial soap provides additional bacterial reduction beyond what regular soap achieves through mechanical cleaning and rinsing. Studies show antibacterial soap is more effective in healthcare settings where bacterial loads are higher. For routine household use, CDC guidelines state that regular soap and proper handwashing technique are sufficient for most situations. Antibacterial soap is recommended for healthcare, food service, and environments where pathogen transmission risk is elevated. Choice depends on your use case and risk level.

How long does antibacterial soap remain effective after manufacturing?

Properly formulated antibacterial soap maintains antimicrobial efficacy for 18 to 24 months when stored correctly. Antimicrobial agents require stability testing to verify concentration retention over shelf life. Orsolab conducts stability testing on all antibacterial formulations and provides shelf life recommendations based on test data. Storage away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures preserves antimicrobial activity. We recommend expiration dating on product labels and include storage instructions for end users.
